Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we feature top ten books or book related stuff according to each week’s topic.

This week’s topic, reasons I love being a blogger and/or reader, is one I’ve been really excited about! Because how can listing those reasons not be fun? Especially when the reasons mentioned could get more people into reading and I utterly love getting others hooked on books too. ;)

Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

Reader:

1. I get to live more than one life.
Technically, everyone only gets one life. However, when reading books, I feel like I get to be so many different people and experience things I never could in reality. Why just live one, single life when you can live hundreds through  books?

2. I learn from mistakes I did not make.
You know how characters in books always makes mistakes and learn from them? Sometimes, those mistakes are ones I, myself, would’ve made but by having experienced it through a fictional character, it occasionally prevents me from blundering in real life.

3. Book Boyfriends.
I know some people don’t really like having book boyfriends but I’m a girly girl who appreciates excellent male specimens. Honestly, with school and everything, I’m way too busy for a real life boyfriend, so I don’t mind settling for reading about some amazing fictional dudes (my favorites are Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, Sturmhond from Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo & Chaol from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas). For now, since I’m still 17 & have got plenty of time to search for an actual boyfriend in the future. ;)

4. FEELS.
Usually, my life’s not as exciting or emotionally crazy as books (obviously) and I’m almost always too happy (does that even make sense?). Hence, I love it when books put me through emotional trauma because despite being painful, we all know only spectacular books can break our hearts. Oh, I’m totally not a sadist, by the way. I simply like intense stuff.

Blogger:

5. Reviewing.
It’s like the perfect outlet for all my feelings about the books I’ve read! And by reviewing, I’m allowing people who actually care about books to view my opinions. We all know how things go when you start babbling on and on about a book you’re reading to an uninterested party…

6. Interacting with authors.
Ok, practically anyone can interact with authors via social networks but sometimes, bloggers get more chances to do that. And to me, interacting with my favorite authors is equivalent to interacting with my favorite celebrities, just less nerve-wrecking.

7. My bookish opinions hold more weight.
I’m not sure if this applies to other bloggers, but ever since I’ve started book blogging, some of my friends and schoolmates around me seem to trust my opinions on books more and also come to me for book recommendations more often. I guess it looks to them as if I know my way well around books? I hope that’s true.

8. Making more bookish friends.
The book blogosphere is like an all-you-can-eat buffet of bookish people! Not that you eat them… So more of an all-you-can-make-friends-with buffet? Bad analogy. But you get the gist of it.

Both:

9. My relatives thinks I’m smart.
This is a stereotype for many readers and bloggers and I do not actually think I’m any smarter than the average human being. However, when my relatives assume I am, it saves me from unnecessary worried nagging about my future and long talks about picking a career I do not want – well, I’ve already somewhat planned out my future education & career-wise – during family gatherings.

10. I just simply love reading and blogging!
Sometimes, loving something requires no explanation.

***************************************

Of course, there are plenty more from where all that came from but that’s the first 10 that came to mind. So why do you love being a reader and/or blogger? Leave links to your TTT below because I would love to know them!

Happy Tuesday!
