Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Ruin and Rising
by Leigh Bardugo
Series: The Grisha #3
Publication Date: 17 June 2014
by Henry Holt and Co.
The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.
Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

I dare say Ruin and Rising is my most anticipated book of 2014 (yes, even more so than City of Heavenly Fire). And that stunning cover! Did mention red is my favorite color? ;) I swear, no descriptive words can ever do that cover justice. Nikolai, Alina & Mal, I’M READY TO FOLLOW Y’ALL TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD ON THIS LAST JOURNEY. I’m going to go cry from the overflowing FEELS I’m getting. Ok, bye.
What book are you waiting on this week?
Yes! Great pick!! I read Shadow and Bone and really enjoyed it. I’m going to read Siege and Storm when it gets closer to Ruin and Rising’s release date so the story is still fresh on the mind :)

The second, Siege and Storm, was even better than the first! Honestly, I found only Shadow and Bone pretty good but that sequel stole my heart. Trust me, you need to get to it ASAP! You won’t regret it. ;)
