Top Ten 2014 Debuts I’m Excited For

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we feature top ten books or book related stuff according to each week’s topic.

In this week’s list, I’m going to include both debut authors & debut series of 2014.

Top Ten 2014 Releases I’m Dying to Read:

[cover unreleased]
1. The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Sometime in September

Firstly, it’s Marie Lu. Secondly, the protagonist (Adelina) and I (Adelena) have the same name with a different spelling – a rare feat considering that my name isn’t exactly common. It’s hard not to get hyped up over it!

The Winner's Curse
2. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
March 04

High fantasy and an absolutely gorgeous cover? I’m in!

Dissonance
3. Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke
March 13

Another cover I’m head over heels for but the plot also sounds captivating. Alternate worlds and multiverse!

Side Effects May Vary
4. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy
March 18

So the protagonist, Alice, doesn’t seem like a very nice person (alright, she sounds downright mean) but there’s something  about the synopsis that draws me in…

5. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
April 01

A twisted retelling (or continuation?) of a classic? I’m all for it.

Prisoner of Night and Fog
6. Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman
April 22

Hitler’s NIECE and a JEW?! Talk about the ultimate star-crossed lovers. GIVE IT TO ME NOW.

the-break-up-artist
7. The Break-Up Artist by Philip Siegel
April 29

I would read this for the title alone.

Salvage
8. Salvage by Alexandra Duncan
April 01

A girl escaping from a messed up dystopic space ship back to Earth which seems to be a ginormous rubbish dump. How irresistible does that sound?

The Murder Complex
9. The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
June 10

“An action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic debut thriller set in a world where the murder rate is higher than the birthrate. For fans of Moira Young’s Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna.”
*waves hands wildly in the air* ME. THAT’S ME.

Hexed
10. Hexed by Michelle Krys
June 10

Alright, this sort of reminds me a lot of Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins (which I loved) with the witchy thing and the similar title so why not give it a try?

  1. Salvage, Side Effects May Vary, and the Winner’s Curse were all close runner up’s to my TTT list! Is it just me or are covers designs just blowing it UP this year?! Everything gives me a serious case of book grabby hands. I don’t even need to read the synopsis sometimes, I can just tell from the cover.
